2009-12-31 New Years Eve & Bootleg Canyon

We headed back over to Bootleg Canyon

We rode a lot further, and enjoyed the warmer weather. Some really really great riding out there.

Holy crap a picture of me:

Look at those trails!

Roller coaster

Me again

I managed to overshoot a jump in the trail and wind up over the bars into some ridiculous bush thingy.

Here’s some short video’s of Steve and I rolling through some fun stuff. Imagine this for 5 freakin miles down from the top. Pure awesome!

We talked to some other visitors at the park and I took a shower in the showers at the bike park. Pretty damn amazing that they have such a nice setup there. I learned the hard way that if you wait 90 seconds the showers put out warm water. I jumped in with the freezing water and then felt like an ass when it warmed up. It was just a pushbutton on the wall, no nobs or anything. We had no hotel that night so it came in really handy.

Then we went out to eat dinner at a place in Boulder City called Toto’s, it was pretty damn good. I got a pork fajita.

We went and hung out on the strip afterwards, gawked at the girls tabledancing at Planet Hollywood and went and watched Robbie Maddison jump the arch in front of Paris. Really really impressive.

The Jump off:

Then we went over to the Double Down bar to celebrate new year’s. There was a band playing the Trailer Park Casanova’s. They were damn good, and fun. We ran outside to see the fireworks at midnight and so did the bar across the street. It was a gay bar. This girl comes running across the street complaining about how everyone over there is going to have sex that night and that she isn’t. She’s obviously offering herself which confused Steve and I since she came from a gay bar. Then she noticed, and explained in detail how she wasn’t gay. It was awkward, and sad at the same time.

We went back inside and finished watching the band.

After that we pointed the car south and faught the traffic and sleep deprivation and somehow made it all the way to Tuscon. We found the best western there and the nicest lady on earth gave us free breakfast and got us checked in 6 hours early. We passed out.

  2. You literally rode right by my Aunt and Uncle’s place. They live on the south side of South Mountain. I’ve hiked up that trail to that old gazebo up on the hill several times in the past year. Extremely steep stuff!

  3. You sissies, that cactus was just trying to be your friend. Next time pack some needlenose pliers and don’t try to pull them out with your hand or you will end up with 2 hands full of cactus. 🙂

Thanks for calling when you were in town!! 🙁
